Fin House
Altrincham
Fin House adds a concise extension that balances the provision of a new well proportioned family room to the rear of a new build house whilst ensuring the garden remains. Finished in charred timber cladding that contrasts and compliments the brick of the existing house. Alternate cladding profiles create a Fin detail, giving the elevations relief and a rhythmic property. The extension gives valuable space for the family to come together at the end of the day, to gather around the table and catch up. The space is bathed in natural light from the skylight above and the large timber sliding door to the rear.
A generous new bedroom created within a loft conversion, provides places to relax and study whilst light pours in through the six new rooflights. The loft conversion was made possible through careful navigation of planning policy and context, by opening up a dialogue with the council it was possible to raise the eaves and the ridge of the roof to maximise space. The clients have done a great job on the selection of finishes, furniture and light fittings.
Gannon Works occupied a key role in the project guiding the clients through the architectural design, planning process and by retaining a presence throughout construction helped to manage costs and ensure their vision was delivered to its fullest potential.
